Thanks to a $180,000 grant from Lumina, TheStatehouseFile.com is now offering its daily coverage of the Indiana Statehouse to readers and media outlets for free. The grant is part of a $10 million fundraising effort to create the Indiana Local News Initiative, a multi-organization project to bring more news to more Hoosiers and make state government more accessible to its citizens. The initiative will create newsrooms, fund existing ones, and partner with outlets such as The Indianapolis Star, Chalkbeat Indiana, Indiana Capital Chronicle, The Indiana Citizen, WFYI and more.

If you’re a reader, welcome! And consider signing up for one of our daily or weekly newsletters so you don’t miss a thing. If you’re a media outlet, you may use any of our content in your publication free of charge. Only rule: You retain the author’s and The Statehouse File’s name, helping our young journalists along their way.

We are The Statehouse File

From an office in the Press Corps of the Indiana Statehouse, the journalism majors of Franklin College's Pulliam School of Journalism work alongside the best reporters in the state, digging into the behind-the-scenes stories of Indiana politics. We're a student newsroom, but our work doesn't sit on a professor's desk. We create daily content for this website and 35 professional media partners around the state.
